Cameron Mathison Reveals Status of Relationship With Estranged Wife After Losing Home in Wildfire

Actor Cameron Mathison and his wife of over 20 years, Vanessa Mathison, announced their separation via Instagram in July 2024. In January, the couple's long-time family home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades wildfire. The two have been supportive of one another in social media posts since the fire, and he recently opened up about how close they remain.

On March 30, Cameron Mathison spoke to Us Weekly as he attended the 2025 Builders Ball for Habitat for Humanity L.A. He shared, "Vanessa and I, we love each other. We're still super close."

Neither of them has ever publicly shared specifically what drove them apart after over two decades of marriage. He told Us Weekly, "My wife and I had a beautiful 22-year relationship, and then things fell apart."

The separated couple resolved to remain on good terms for the sake of their two children, both of whom are now attending college in Europe. He noted that the loss of their home in January strengthened their bond.

He explained to Us Weekly, "This house was so special to both of us even though we've been separated for a couple years now."

The General Hospital star continued, "When couples kind of go through things, hopefully, your goal is to be close eventually, and support each other and forget about all the messiness and just be there for each other."

"In a way, this challenge and trauma brought us super close. It was a way to move on and be there for each other. She and I only really knew what each other were (sic) going through, so it was very valuable for both of us. I literally couldn't have gone through this without her," he added.
