Prominent CEO Dead From Heart Attack At 63
A prominent CEO has tragically died from an apparent heart attack at 63 years old.
Jong-Hee Han, the co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, died from a heart attack on Tuesday. The company confirmed the tragic news this week. The prominent executive had taken over as CEO and vice chairman of the company in 2022. Han was responsible for overseeing the company’s consumer electronics and smartphone divisions.
Samsung is deeply saddened by his passing.
“Our deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Samsung said.
The tech CEO was reportedly transported to the hospital and treated for heart failure. Unfortunately, he passed away during the middle of treatment.
Han previously apologized for Samsung's stock dip, as the tech giant has struggled to keep pace with the likes of Apple, among other companies.
“First and foremost, I sincerely apologize for the recent stock performance not meeting your expectations. Over the past year, our company failed to adequately respond to the rapidly evolving AI semiconductor market,” Han had said.
Han had been working at the South Korea company since 1988. He had been credited with building Samsung into a television giant. Samsung remains one of the biggest producers of TVs in the entire world.
Samsung will have co-CEO Young-Hyun Jun serve as the company's sole CEO moving forward. He had been leading Samsung’s computer chip and components division.
Our thoughts are with the friends and family members of Han following his tragic passing.
