Selena Gomez Reveals Martin Short's Role At Her Wedding With Benny Blanco
Selena Gomez's wedding to Benny Blanco is going to be a full-on tribute to Only Murders in the Building if she has her way. The 32-year-old actress isn't going to let co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin just attend — she's putting them to work.
Gomez hasn't fleshed out all the details yet because she and Blanco haven't quite started with the official wedding plans, but she has an idea of what she wants the legendary actors to do.
On the March episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the "Lose You to Love Me" singer admitted that she "hadn’t even thought about" the comedians officiating her wedding. Still, she had other ideas for Short and Martin.
“But Marty is due to give a speech. I told him he must," Gomez said. "Steve will probably pull out his banjo, but I feel like Marty would have an epic speech.”
The men reacted to Gomez's December 2024 engagement to Blanco in their own unique way. Martin posted a promotional image with her and Short and wrote in the caption, "Congratulations to Benny and Selena, from her two weird uncles."
Gomez added more context to his congratulatory message on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in January. "Steve made sure he sent my assistant an email so my assistant could tell me congratulations," she shared. "That’s how he communicates. He always tries to be polite. And it’s very kind, but it’s okay to send a little text.”
Short sent a personal message to Gomez, but Gomez joked that Short “wasn’t very happy" that Blanco didn't ask for their permission to marry the former Disney Channel star. While Gomez has spelled out their possible roles in her wedding, Kimmel might have the best idea of all.
Kimmel asked, "Have you thought about giving them a job whether it be a reader or even ring bearers would be cute?"
"That would be adorable," she laughed.
