Golfer's Girlfriend Turns Heads With Rory McIlroy Message During the Masters

The first major tournament of the year is in the books as Rory McIlroy finally completed the career grand slam by winning his first green jacket.

McIlroy outlasted a field of 96 golfers at Augusta National in Augusta, GA to win the Masters after taking down Justin Rose in a tiebreak. The Northern Irishman earned his fifth major title and joined the list of Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only golfers to earn the career grand slam.

He didn't exactly make it easy on himself, carding a double-bogey on the back nine that saw his lead evaporate. After eventually regaining his composure, McIlroy played a flawless 19th hole en route to taking down Rose and winning the Masters.

Quite a few fans went through a rollercoaster of emotions with McIlroy on the back nine before he got the job done, though. Makena White, girlfriend of golfer Jake Knapp, who joined PGA Tour history as the 15th player to shoot a 59 earlier this season, was among those on the edge of their seat during the tournament.

"'It’s just a golf tournament you need to relax,'" she said mocking those who don't quite get the mental anguish of cheering for a specific athlete - especially one that waited his entire career for this moment. 

"GOD FORBID my will to live rides on a 5’9 Northern Irishman’s ability to put a little white ball in a hole," she joked.

Her post racked up over 730,000 views with 22,000 likes as she continued to grow her social media presence, which stands at just over 15,000 across X - formerly Twitter - and Instagram.
