Green Day Takes Clear Shot at Charli XCX After Coachella

Charli XCX caused quite a stir following her performance at weekend one of the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California, when she implied that she should have been a headliner for the festival over Green Day. Now, it seems like Green Day has responded with a not-so-subtle shot at the pop star.

During a DJ set at an afterparty following her Coachella performance last weekend, Charli XCX was seen posing for a photo while wearing a sash that read "Miss Should Have Been a Headliner."

The photo quickly made its rounds on social media with many fans perceiving it as a swipe at Green Day, who headlined the festival on Saturday night with Charli XCX performing on the undercard, just one slot behind Green Day on the festival's main stage.

Green Day seemed to address the issue subtly when frontman Billy Joe Armstrong took a fans green "Brat" hat – in reference to Charli XCX's new album – from the crowd and wore it during their performance. But a different member of the band took a much more clear shot at Charli XCX following the performance.

After Green Day's performance on Saturday night, a photo surfaced showing drummer Tre Cool wearing a sash with a hand-written message that said "Actual Headliner," which was clearly in reference to Charli XCX's sash from the previous weekend.

While Charli XCX has been making music since 2008, she burst onto the scene last year with the release of her hit album "Brat," which was enormously popular with its electronic dance tracks.

Clearly, however, Green Day thinks that they were deserving of the headliner spot, despite the perceived complaints from Charli XCX.
