Jared Isaacman's Net Worth Is Bigger Than His NASA Aspirations

President Trump's pick to run NASA, Jared Isaacman, has more than his experience with aviation and the space industry. On September 12, 2024, Isaacman became the first private citizen to walk in space, and now, he is poised to take over the most pivotal government organization in the field of space exploration and spaceflight. But, if Issacman gets the job, it will almost certainly be a pay cut.

Prior to being tapped by Trump to take over NASA, Isaacman founded and ran two very successful companies. Here's Issacman's net worth right now, and how he made all that money.

As of April 2025, Jared Isaacman's net worth is estimated at $1.3 billion. According to Forbes, this makes him the 2,416th richest billionaire in the world in 2025.

Isaacman's impressive fortune essentially comes from two major ventures. He is the founder of Shift4 Payments, a payment processing system that is used by nearly a third of all US restaurants. Interestingly, Issacman took Shift4 public in 2020, which added to the company's value substantially. 

But his space and aviation cred comes from his other company, Draken International, a private company that provides tactical fighter aircraft to the US military. This company has been in existence since 2012. In 2019, Issacman sold Draken to the Wall Street firm Blackstone, which resulted in a nine-figure payout.

While it's well known that Isaacman has ties to Elon Musk and President Trump, his experience with aviation and spaceflight is fairly extensive for a civilian. He's a fully certified pilot and often flies fighter planes in airshows.

He was also the commander of two space missions: Inspiration4 in 2021, and Polaris Dawn in 2024. The Inspiration 4 mission was partly a research and charity mission for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The mission resulted in $100 million in donations going to St Jude's.

As of this writing, Issacman's impending appointment to the head of NASA has largely bipartisan support. 

If confirmed as the head of NASA, Isaacman has vowed to resign as CEO of Shift4. He will also put on hold, indefinitely, his scheduled flights on Polarais spacecraft.
