Chris Brown Released on $6.7 Million Bail After Arrest, Tour Will Go Forward

Chris Brown was granted bail by a London court on Wednesday after agreeing to pay a £5 million ($6.7 million) security bond, paving the way for his world tour to kick off next month. The U.S. singer is facing a charge of causing grievous bodily harm in what prosecutors described as an “unprovoked attack” involving a tequila bottle on music producer Abraham Diaw at a London nightclub in 2023.

Brown was not required to enter a plea on this case and will appear in court on June 20. The court required him to surrender his passport except while touring, BBC reported.

Chris Brown broke his silence following his release from prison, sharing on Instagram: ‘From the cage to the stage!! Breezy Bowl..’

Prosecutors allege that Chris Brown struck Abraham Diaw multiple times with a bottle, then punched and kicked him at Tape, a nightclub in London, in front of a packed crowd, with the incident captured on surveillance footage. Diaw told The Sun last week that Brown “hit me over the head two or three times” and that his “knee collapsed.” Diaw filed a lawsuit against Brown in October 2023 over the alleged attack. HoodyBaby, an American rapper whose real name is Omolulu Akinlolu, was arrested the day after Brown in connection with the same incident and is also scheduled to appear in court on June 20.

Brown's European tour is set to kick off June 8 in Amsterdam, with subsequent dates in Germany, the U.K., Ireland, France, and Portugal.
