‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson Tapped for Huge New TV Project

Season 3 of Reacher may have wrapped up months ago, but Alan Ritchson is keeping busy.

As Variety is exclusively reporting, the 42-year-old star has partnered with Bunim/Murray Productions—the pioneering reality TV production company behind The Real World, The Simple Life, The Challenge, and Project Runway—for a brand-new reality competition.

Titled Predator vs. Prey, the reality competition will gather up a cast of 15 all-star competitors from series including Survivor and Naked & Afraid to partake in what Variety reports is “a 21-day game of hide and seek set on a 25-square mile rugged wilderness course.”

The competitors will be placed into two groups: predators and prey, with the predators banking cash for all the prey they capture. “Each episode will feature a different challenge that changes the game and forces Prey out of hiding,” writes Selome Hailu for Variety.

Overseeing all of the action will be Ritchson, who will serve as both host and one of the show’s executive producers.

“This series will be the ultimate test of grit and strength, pitting top survival stars against each other in a relentless game of chase and survival through a challenging wilderness environment,” said Gayani Wanigaratne, Bunim/Murray’s senior vice president of development. 

“Partnering with Alan to co-develop this format, fueled by his passion for the survival space, brings an authentic edge and fresh creative perspective,” Wanigaratne continued. “His first question to us was, when does he get to parachute into the wilderness to greet the players!”

For his part, Ritchson says that “Seeing the world’s best survivalists pitted against each other in a high-octane game of hide-and-seek, all while surviving days or weeks in the most frighteningly unpredictable scenarios Mother Nature has to offer… TV doesn’t get more exciting than this.”
