E! News, which first premiered in 1991, has officially been canceled by the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The long-running cable broadcast will sign off for good this fall, but it's not all bad news, as the show will continue in a digital format.

“As a former host of E! News — here’s my VERY HONEST reaction to the cancellation!” former ‘E! News’ Host Lilliana Vazquez, 45, captioned a TikTok video on Thursday, July 24. “I can talk about this because I was the former host of E! News. No, I’m not surprised.”

Vazquez “left” the show in 2021 after being, what she thinks, is “the shortest tenured host” at the show. She joined the series in December 2019 just before the pandemic hit in March 2020. "Our show went off the air with me as the host because of the pandemic,” she added. “When it came back, it came back in a very different form, and I was no longer with the network.”

Sources say employees were notified of the cancellation the morning of the announcement. The final televised episode will air September 25, with Access Hollywood and Access Daily continuing production without disruption.

For many, E! News was a go-to source for celebrity interviews, red carpet coverage, and pop culture commentary. Its end marks the close of a major chapter in entertainment journalism.

This television cancellation is also a sign of the times as legacy shows shift toward digital-first strategies.
