Video: Huge Rockfall Hits Popular Tourist Spot

A rockfall of epic proportions devastated a popular tourist destination.

A video started circulating on social media on Monday, showing an apocalyptic-like disaster unfolding as a horde of tourists ran for cover while visiting the popular tourist spot in Yuntaishan, Henan Province, in China.

Rockfall Creates Hazardous Conditions

You can see the rockfall create a plume of dirt as debris ricochets in all directions. The group of tourists is not far from a walkway bridge. When the rockfall begins, you can later see them walk back to avoid injury.

It remains unclear if anyone was injured or if the tourist spot has been closed due to the disaster.

One of Several Recent Tourist Incidents in China

The rockfall is the latest disaster to occur in China in the last few months.

Back in August, a suspension bridge in China’s Xinjiang region collapsed after one of the cables snapped, causing tourists to plummet to the rocky ground. One particularly haunting photo shows the bridge collapsed on its side with people desperately trying to hang on.

The tragedy resulted in at least five deaths, and dozens were injured.
