You Can Watch the 'Avengers: Doomsday' Trailer Right Now—But There's a Catch

You can watch the teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday right now, but don't expect to just hit play on YouTube.

Marvel and Disney have released the first trailer for the hotly anticipated superhero mashup, which hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2026, and (expectedly) it already has fans buzzing with speculation. The trailer focuses on Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, played by Chris Evans in a return to the franchise. Steve Rogers previously exited the MCU in Avengers: Endgame (2019), when he traveled back in time to live out the rest of his life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), his one true love whom he met back in the original Captain America (2011).

But there are a few things you’ll have to do first if you want to watch the new teaser. The first Avengers: Doomsday trailer dropped on Thursday afternoon, attached to showings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. At the moment, the Avengers: Doomsday teaser is only playing in cinemas before screenings of James Cameron’s Pandora-set third-quel. That means you’ll have to head out to your local and purchase a ticket for Fire and Ash if you have any hope of seeing Marvel’s new teaser. This one focuses on Captain America, but rumor has it that different teasers centered on other Avengers will be attached to screenings of Fire and Ash in the coming weeks.

Teaser Shows Chris Evans' Return as Captain America

The first teaser shows Steve Rogers, in modern times, riding his motorcycle up to his home before going inside to admire his old Captain America uniform. Most alarmingly, and tantalizingly, he’s seen cradling a newborn baby. Is it his? And with whom? Or is something else afoot? The trailer ends with text on screen promising: “Steve Rogers will return for Avengers: Doomsday.” A countdown clock set for one year, set to expire when the film releases next year, then appears on screen.

Robert Downey Jr. and Many More Avengers Join Evans

Evans will be joined in Avengers: Endgame by original Avenger Robert Downey Jr., though the former won’t be reprising the role of Tony Stark. Instead, Downey will play the villainous Doctor Doom. Other returning cast members include Chris Hemsworth as Thor; Paul Rudd as Ant-Man; Tom Hiddleston as Loki; Anthony Mackie; Sebastian Stan; Letitia Wright; Simu Liu; Pedro Pascal; Vanessa Kirby; Joseph Quinn; Ebon Moss-Bachrach; Florence Pugh; David Harbour; Wyatt Russell; and Lewis Pullman. Several actors from the X-Men franchise—Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, and Rebecca Romijn—will also join the MCU veterans.
