Beloved Rock Star Dead at 60

Tommy DeCarlo, lead singer of popular rock band Boston, has died aged 60. (via TMZ)

The rock star reportedly passed away on March 9 following a battle with brain cancer, as confirmed by his family on social media. "He fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end," they wrote on social media.

DeCarlo recently cancelled an appearance at Jackson College due to his ongoing health battle, WILX reported. He was due to appear alongside Jason Scheff, the previous frontman of rock band Chicago.

Boston were best known for hits including "More Than A Feeling", "Don't Look Back", and "Peace of Mind". Despite huge acclaim and strong commercial performance, the band was never inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which caused outrage from fans in recent years.

DeCarlo joined Boston in 2007 as a replacement for Brad Delp, the band's original frontman who died that year.

Prior to DeCarlo's passing, his family had set up a GoFundMe to help finance his ongoing cancer treatments. The fundraiser had collected upwards of $56,000 at the time of DeCarlo's death.

'He is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support he’s already received from friends, family, and fans all over the world. It has lifted him up during the hardest moments and reminded him he’s not fighting alone,' the family wrote on his GoFundMe.

The DeCarlo family has respectfully asked for privacy at this understandably difficult time.
