No Doubt Guitarist Tom Dumont Reveals Major Medical Diagnosis
Tom Dumont, guitarist of No Doubt, took to social media on Saturday to share a health update with fans.
The announcement came ahead of the legendary ska band's 18-show residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas.
In the video post, 58-year-old Dumont revealed his diagnosis of early-onset Parkinson's disease. He began by reflecting on how preparations for No Doubt's Vegas shows have allowed him to look back on his 38 years in the band with gratitude.
"The last couple months, getting ready for the No Doubt Sphere shows, it’s been very fun," he said.
"Looking through old footage and looking at old photographs and relearning old songs and rehearsing and creating all the video stuff for the Sphere. It’s kind of made me think about how grateful I am for the life I’ve gotten to lead, as a musician all these years. It’s thanks to our families and our friends and our listeners and you and everyone who’s come to our shows over the years."
The Sphere shows will mark a big return to the stage for the band, which has been on hiatus since 2015. They briefly reunited to play Coachella in 2024 and a California wildfire benefit in 2025.
Dumont went on to share how, after years of symptoms and tests, he received the early-onset Parkinson's diagnosis.
"It’s been a struggle, it’s a struggle every day," he said. While he vowed to share another video with more specifics on his symptoms, he moved on to the positive.
"The good news is I can still play music, I can still play guitar. I’ve been doing really well," he added.
Dumont's announcement came on World Parkinson's Day, as he hoped his post would draw attention to the disease and encourage others to share their stories.
"I’ve just been very inspired by other people who have come out to talk about their health issues on social media and that sort of thing," he said. "I think it helps erase some of the stigma, and it raises awareness obviously, and awareness is really important for prevention and for research."
No Doubt's shows at The Sphere, scheduled from May 8 to June 13, will be unaffected by this news. The father of three ended the video with excitement for the slate of concerts.
"I’m really excited about the shows. I can’t wait to see everybody," he said.
