A 'Fast & Furious' TV Series Is in Development at Peacock

The Fast & Furiousfranchise is like a certain Italian-themed restaurant chain—when you're here, you're family. At the NBCUniversal upfront presentation on Monday, May 11, we learned that Peacock is developing a TV show based on the mega-popular film series. Initially, franchise star Vin Diesel claimed there are not one but four Fast & Furious shows in the works at the streamer.

However, per Deadline, Peacock is only developing one series, "with more in various stages of development at Universal Television." During the presentation at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Diesel had this to say to those in attendance:

"For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more. They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space."

Diesel "came around on the idea" of a Fast & Furious TV show after Donna Langley, chief at Universal Studios, began overseeing NBCUniversal's TV division in 2025. "That's when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family, will be protected in the TV space," he added.

Diesel will executive produce the Fast & Furious series. Sam Vincent is also on board as an executive producer alongside franchise producers Neal Moritz, Chris Morgan, and Jeff Kirschenbaum. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Deadline reveals that Mike Daniels will pen the pilot. This news comes hot on the heels of Daniels' The Rockford Files reboot going to series at NBC, which will star David Boreanaz as the titular character.

The film franchise, which consists of 11 Fast & Furious movies, is coming up on its 25th anniversary this year. The Fast and the Furious, starring Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and the late Paul Walker, was released on June 22, 2001. A special screening of the movie will take place at the Cannes Film Festival. Fast Forever, the last film in the series, will hit theaters on March 17, 2028.
