Casper Ruud, Wife Celebrated Major Life Milestone This Year

Casper Ruud is comfortable at Roland Garros, making the final twice. However, he received all he could handle from American tennis star Tommy Paul, who took the first two sets in a third-round match between the two this week.

The No. 16 seed battled back to advance, 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (4), 7-5, in four hours and 43 minutes.

“He was dominating a lot and playing very loose and aggressive, coming to the net, making my game feel uncomfortable. I didn't really find any rhythm in his serves. I was really not even sniffing on the break points until the third set,” Ruud revealed after the match.

“I broke him quite early, and that maybe changed a bit momentum. You just say, one set at a time here.”

As Ruud prepares for a fourth-round match, he'll have the support of his family.

Casper Ruud, Wife Maria Welcomed Baby Girl

The 27-year-old first revealed he and his wife Maria were expecting their first child together on September 11. He wrote on Instagram, “The team is growing. See you next year babygirl.”

He announced the birth of their daughter in February. Ruud posted a sweet photo of their newborn’s little hand and wrote, “30.01.2026. Thank you for all beautiful messages these last couple of weeks. Maria and our baby are doing great.”

Ruud and his wife started dating in 2018 and he later proposed in November 2024.

“I look forward to hopefully becoming a good parent myself,” Ruud said at the time. “Even though this life requires a lot of time, a lot of energy and a lot of travel and these things, I look forward to trying to be there as much as I can and when I have downtime — time off from the court — I will spend it where I want to go with my future daughter.”

“I think teaching her about my lifestyle and what I was taught when I was young,” he continued. “She’s free to do whatever she wants, doesn’t need to be tennis. But of course it will be natural to at least try and see if she can be active in sport. I think sport in general is a great way for kids to be active and kind of have a place where they belong.”

Ruud will face off against Joao Fonseca, who is coming off of an impressive upset victory over 24-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic.
