'The Bear': FX Sets Premiere Date for Fifth and Final Season

Yes, chef. It's almost time to close the doors of the titular restaurant in The Bear. FX has announced a premiere date for the critically lauded series' fifth and final season. Season 5 will consist of eight episodes, and they'll all drop on the same day on Hulu, making it the perfect binge-watch. The workplace dramedy will also have a linear debut on FX. The first two episodes will premiere on the channel, with new episodes airing weekly.

This news comes hot on the heels of the surprise episode that dropped on Hulu yesterday. Serving as a prequel, this new outing of The Bear follows "cousins Richard 'Richie' Jermovich and Michael 'Mikey' Berzatto on a work trip to Gary, Indiana." Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Jon Bernthal, who play Richie and Mikey, respectively, co-wrote the episode with direction from The Bear creator Christopher Storer.

Here's the synopsis for Season 5 per Deadline and FX:

"Season 5 picks up the morning after Sydney, Richie, and Natalie discover that Carmy has quit the food industry, leaving the restaurant to them. With no money, the threat of a sale, and a torrential storm in their way, the new partners must band together with the rest of the team to achieve one last service, hoping they’ll finally earn a Michelin star. Ultimately, they learn that what makes a restaurant 'perfect' might not be the food but the people."

In addition to Moss-Bachrach as Richie, the series stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu, Lionel Boyce as Marcus, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina Marrero, Abby Elliott as Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto, Matty Matheson as Neil Fak, and Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim. Storer serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Joanna Calo.

The high-octane psychological comedy-drama has scored a whopping 21 Emmys during its four-year run, including for White, Moss-Bachrach, Edebiri, Bernthal, and Colón-Zayas in their respective acting categories.
