A Retro-Inspired Game That Seeps ’90s Nostalgia is Coming to Switch

Donkey Kong is all the rage right now. Nintendo's famous ape has fans going bananas for more jungle hijinks ever since Donkey Kong Bananza came out on Switch 2 last summer.

Donkey Kong 64 recently came out on the Nintendo Classics service for Switch, but what about the folks who need a little more retro DK? There aren't any Donkey Kong Country games in the pipeline right now, unfortunately, but indie developer Microids has just the game to thwart that craving.

Marsupilami 2 - Salsa Palombia doesn't hide its inspirations at all. This game is meant to look and feel just like a classic Donkey Kong experience, with beautiful graphics and sharp platforming. Nintendo Life posted more details ahead of the September 3 release.

"A Fast-Paced 2D Platformer
Journey through four vibrant worlds in this high-energy platformer! From the colourful jungle to the bustling city, find the clues to the Mummy Queen's hideout. Take on increasingly more intense challenges leading to the ultimate showdown against the Mummy Queen.

Experience the Adventure Together in Local Co-Op
Play the adventure with a friend or on your own and take on the Battle Dojos' challenges and the competitive minigames designed for friendly rivalries.
Dive Into a Vibrant, Colourful Universe Faithful to the Marsupilami Licence

There is a demo out now on the eShop, and if you want to get familiar with the series before this sequel, you can always buy the first game, Marsupilami - Hoobadventure. The characters in the game are inspired by the 1993 children's cartoon Marsupilami.
