Alexander Zverev's Girlfriend Sends Defiant 3-Word Message After French Open Win

For the first time in his career, Alexander Zverev is a grand slam champion.

The 29-year-old took down Italy's Flavio Cobolli in the French Open Final as he finally claimed a grand slam title after falling short each of his three previous attempts.

Ahead of the match Zverev admitted he'd have his hands full.

“He’s a great player, a great guy,” Zverev said of Cobolli. “I like him. I like his dad a lot. Two very good people, just generally. I look forward to playing him in the final. It’s his first final, so I’m happy for him that he reached it.

“But the only thing I can control is that I play good tennis. I will try to show my level. I will try to do the right things. That’s the only thing that matters to me.”

In the end, though, he took down Cobolli, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6(5)-7(7), 6-1.

Girlfriend Sophia Thomalla Sends Message

After completing his first grand slam victory, Zverev received a defiant three-word message from longtime model and actress girlfriend Sophia Thomalla.

"He has it," she said in a post on her Instagram story, alluding to the doubters that he'd ever win a grand slam after his shortcomings in previous attempts.

Zverev previously spoke highly of his 36-year-old model girlfriend.

“I think for tennis players it is always very important who you have next to you. Sophia is someone who gives me peace and security,” Zverev told a German tennis magazine in December 2021.

“I play extremely well with her behind me and I hope that will continue to be the case next year and maybe even better. I haven’t achieved all of my goals yet.”

Now he has a major title in his pocket.
