Former ‘Top Gear’ Host Reveals Unexpected Medical Diagnosis
Jeremy Clarkson, former host of Top Gear, revealed in the newest season of Clarkson’s Farm that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The final two episodes of Clarkson’s Farm aired on Wednesday. In one episode, Clarkson, now 66, told series regulars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland about his diagnosis.
In the show, the British television presenter explained, “I disappeared off the other week, and I had a biopsy, and it is cancer, and it's aggressive, but it's really early.” He confessed to the pair that he had known “since May.” Although the illness would put him out of commission for a bit, he insisted he’d “be fine.”
Cooper and Ireland wished the host well.
Clarkson confirmed more details in the following episode, explaining, “The prostate, 10% of it is dead, the 10% where the cancer is.” He added, “I had the op, and just fingers crossed it’s worked, we don’t know yet.”
The season ends with Clarkson in the hospital: “We started season five with me in a hospital bed, and here we are at the end of season five, and I'm back in the hospital bed.”
“Some of the treatment's gone a bit awry, let's say, so I'm going to be here for a little while. I'm nil by mouth, I don't know what's going to happen,” Clarkson admitted.
“But if this is all successful, I'll see you for season six, and if it isn't, I won't.”
Clarkson’s Farm was renewed for a sixth season in January 2026.
This season of Clarkson’s Farm focused heavily on Clarkson’s health after he had a heart procedure in 2024 that required a stent.
Clarkson is best known for Top Gear, the motorsport talk show he hosted from 2002 until 2015. The program made him a household name with co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May. He also presents Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Following his departure from Top Gear, Clarkson started Clarkson’s Farm, a documentary series on Prime Video, following him as he runs his Cotswold farm despite having no experience.
Clarkson concluded the season by saying, “Take care, everyone.”
