Matteo Arnaldi Planning 'Something Special' With Fiancee Amid French Open Run

Matteo Arnaldi is in the midst of his greatest clay-court season to date.

After winning an ATP Challenger 175 event in Italy and reaching the third round in Rome, the Italian is in the semifinal at Roland Garros for the first time, which is also his deepest run in any grand slam.

“I’m super happy,” the No. 104 player in the world admitted after an earlier-round win.

But the tennis star has more than just tennis on his mind. He's just a few months away from marrying fiancee Mia Savio after beginning to date in 2022.

“I’ve been lucky because from the start, she was able to travel a little bit with me,” Arnaldi said earlier this year. “She was finishing university in Australia. We were from two different countries, very far away from each other, so we had to move in together pretty quickly.”

The couple came from different lives and different cultures, but remained committed to their relationship and are now set to marry after the U.S. Open which ends on Sept. 13.

“When you are committed to something, when you really care about the other person, you want to make it work,” Arnaldi said. “Things lead to other things, and then this year there is the marriage, the wedding. It's something special that we have been planning. More [work] for her, not much for me!”

“We’re loving all the preparations, all the big questions that they are giving to us. The only thing is the list. The list is getting longer and longer, so we had to cut out some things,” Arnaldi said.

He added that it's nice to have his partner on the road with him.

“It is nice to have family with you that you can spend time and just switch off a little bit from the tennis and enjoy a night out," he said.

Earlier this week she posted new photos from Roland Garros.

Arnaldi is set to face off against countryman Flavio Cobolli in the semifinal of the French Open this afternoon at 1 p.m. ET on truTV, TNT and Max.
