Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour Join Netflix Espionage Series From 'Adolescence' Creator
It'll be a reunion for the books. Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour will reunite in a new Netflix show from Adolescence co-creator Jack Thorne and producer A24. The espionage thriller received a straight-to-series order from the streaming juggernaut.
Per Deadline, the series sees "disgraced FBI agent turned security expert Matt Wolfe (Harbour)" as he's "drawn back into the world he left behind when his estranged daughter, Rebecca (Brown)—now an FBI agent determined to follow in his footsteps—vanishes on a mission, forcing him back into a field that has evolved beyond him." The show will loosely adapt A Spy in the Blood, the debut novel from author Paul Warner.
This seems like a no-brainer for Netflix, given Brown and Harbour's star power and the enduring popularity of Adolescence and Stranger Things. After all, the gripping limited series is the streamer's second-most-watched English-language series of all time (behind Wednesday Season 1).
On the same list (Top 10 Most Popular Shows on Netflix of All Time), Stranger Things Seasons 4 and 5 sit at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Adolescence received a whopping 13 Emmy nominations and took home eight statues, including one for Owen Cooper, who became the youngest male actor in history to win for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
While Brown and Harbour are reteaming on this project, nearly six months after Stranger Things' series finale, this also marks a reunion for Brown and Thorne. Thorne penned the scripts for all three Enola Holmes movies, which star Brown. Enola Holmes 3 will premiere on Netflix on July 1.
Recently, Brown appeared on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast to tease the untitled Netflix thriller series and her reunion with Harbour. "Father-daughter is where we live, but Netflix will always be our home. The David Harbour project is sooner than expected, and it's David's idea, so kudos to him," she told Horowitz.
