Air Jordan 6: Ranking the 15 Best Colorways Ever, Nos. 7–1
Part 1 showed how deep the Air Jordan 6 catalog runs, from bold experiments to one of the silhouette’s original colorways. Now we get to the heavyweights. These final seven bring championship history, Olympic energy, major collaborations and some of the strongest color blocking Tinker Hatfield’s 1991 design has ever worn. This is where personal taste collides with legacy, and separating a great Air Jordan 6 from an all-time one gets much harder.

Call the ankle pouch a stash pocket, cargo compartment or tiny sneaker purse. Either way, Travis Scott made the Jordan 6 feel rugged, strange and expensive at the same time. Hairy suede, glow-in-the-dark details and utility pockets give it real personality. It ranks seventh because the design is elite, but the six pairs above it carry more Jordan 6 history.

The ‘DMP’ is blacked-out luxury with championship weight behind it. Black nubuck and Metallic Gold already look premium, but its connection to the 2006 Defining Moments Pack pushes it beyond a simple black-and-gold Jordan. It misses my top five only because the colorways ahead of it are even more essential to the silhouette’s identity.
5. Air Jordan 6 ‘Maroon’

The ‘Maroon’ is quiet greatness. Off White leather and deep Maroon accents give this 1991 original some of the cleanest color blocking in the Jordan 6 catalog. No collaboration, no elaborate theme, no gimmick. Just an OG formula strong enough to earn a top-five spot.

The ‘Olympic’ nails both the look and the message. White, Midnight Navy and Varsity Red make the Jordan 6 feel crisp and patriotic without becoming costume-like. It debuted in 2000, yet the color blocking still looks natural enough to stand beside the silhouette’s best OGs.

The ‘White Infrared’ proves an OG Jordan does not need darkness to look dangerous. Crisp white leather makes the Infrared hit harder, giving the sneaker a clean surface with championship-era aggression underneath. This is classic Jordan 6 color blocking with almost nothing to criticize.

If this ranking were based strictly on looks, the ‘Carmine’ could win. Carmine red exploding through crisp white overlays gives the Jordan 6 some of the best color blocking Jordan Brand has ever produced. It is my personal favorite Jordan 6, but the sneaker above it owns the stronger résumé.

This is the Jordan 6 at full strength. Black nubuck gives it menace, Infrared brings the energy and Michael Jordan’s 1991 championship run supplies the legacy. The ‘Carmine’ is my personal favorite, but the ‘Black Infrared’ has the complete résumé to own No. 1.
The Air Jordan 6 Still Deserves Its Place
Thirty-five years after its debut, the Air Jordan 6 still carries the weight of Michael Jordan’s first championship while making room for OG classics, Olympic themes and modern collaborations.
No sneaker ranking is completely objective, and that is part of the fun. My 15 ends with the ‘Black Infrared’ on top. Now the argument is yours: which Air Jordan 6 belongs at No. 1?
